I really am beyond impressed with this year’s Autumn and Winter Collections and there’s still so much more to come. I thought it’d be best to feature my favourite brands so far this season and share my top picks of them. If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you’ll see that I am a massive fan of Newlook. I always have been and I’m well known to spend a couple hundred pounds with them every couple of months, but this year, my wardrobe is full of even more beautiful things than normal. We decided to head off to the woods for a little photoshoot of this look book and I hope all enjoy it!
The Newlook Inspire range is the place where I always get my winter coats from and this year, the selection is so diverse and as always, affordable. Below (in order) I am wearing the Plus Size Navy Boyfriend Coat at £39.99. It’s a rather boxy shape on me, but I love anything blue and this certainly works well against my hair. The coat is a thicker material from my other trench coats, but it’s still not thick enough to be a full on winter coat. With the coat I’m wearing the Plus Size Burgundy Ribbed Skater Dress at £17.99, which is just about the easiest fitting dress I have ever put on. It’s a great neck length so that I don’t feel frumpy, the arms are perfect to ensure the eye line is drawn into my waist, as does the slightly smaller fitting on the waist. The fitting of the dress means that I don’t need a belt to hide away the usual excess fabric, which is a relief, as well as it being a great length to not drown me in material and make me look shorter (I’m only 5’3 as it is.) I should probably say right now that everything I wear at Newlook is a size 20 (the waistcoat is an 18) as it’s all so true to fit that I never need to size up.
My other coats from Newlook are two of the same style just in different colours, the Plus Size Belted Trench Coat at £39.99 is an absolute dream. For many years I’ve wanted a trench coat, but I’ve never found one that suits me quite so well as this. It’s now my go-to London coat, but unfortunately, the stone version and I don’t quite get on as much as I hoped, as my red hair rubs on the back and stains it! Not quite so glamorous, am I? My first outing with this coat was accompanied with a winter maxi, the Plus Size Black Abstract Print Cut Out Back Maxi Dress which is now just £8! A bit of an odd fit, but with the right bra and a waist belt, it’s doable. I added a bright blue, fitted blazer to take the attention away but sadly it isn’t in stock anymore.
For the black Plus Size Belted Trench Coat, I decided to go down a route I’ve not actually tried before. I finally got hold of a dress in the khaki colour everyone loves, thankfully, it goes with my hair really well! The Plus Size Khaki Tie Waist Shirt Dress at £17.99 is sadly a bit of an odd fit, but definitely a comfortable and easy to wear one, it does mean you can see quite a bit of my bra though. Hopefully the distraction of my killer Newlook Wide Fit Boots takes away from the bra, but unfortunately for anyone who likes them, they look to be sold out. I’m really not surprised as they’re so supportive and comfortable, they make me feel god like from being so tall too!My last outfit from Newlook is rather different for me, the Plus Size Tan Fringed Waistcoat at £19.99 is something that immediately caught my attention and I just had to try it out. I really hoped that it would suit me, but I was actually shocked when it did and especially when I received so many compliments for wearing it. Many pointed out that it wasn’t my usual style, a comment that made me oddly pleased with myself for finally achieving it. I added it with the Plus Size Black Jersey Skater Dress which is my new favourite black, casual dress. At just £14.99, it’s the perfect length to wear with waistcoats without taking the attention away from them.
My first Pink Clove spree earlier this year was fill of dresses that soon became my most worn, so this time, I decided to go for things which were all out of my comfort zone. Thankfully, they’ve all turned out to be rather statement dresses and beautiful ones of that. The Pink Clove Plus Perla Keyhole Maxi Dress at £25 is something that I definitely wouldn’t normally go for, especially as it’s bright orange, but other people seem to be able to pull off red and red, so why not me too? This dress is super long, I’m only 5’3 and even in heels, it absolutely buries me, but I adore the style of it.
The Pink Clove Plus Mika Suedette Multi Strap Swing Dress at £24 is such a beautiful style dress and a really perfect fit. It’s definitely taking the arms on dresses to another level, which at first I found a little awkward, but looking at the photo, it’s definitely something I could get into, or at least wear this dress comfortably. This dress is so on trend right now that I just couldn’t say no to it. I’m really pleased with how it looks against my colouring and can see it being a big hit this AW15!My final Pink Clove piece is a daring sort of dress that I had been eying up for weeks now as there’s several styles knocking about. The Pink Clove Plus Aliza Lace Maxi Dress With Tie Neckline (now only available in cream at £33) is an unusual style dress too. It’s boxy but wanting to create a waistline with a lot of leg on show. I found it quite short and I’m only 5’3 as it is! I’d definitely have to wear this on a slightly warmer day, or for a fancy function, but I love black lace and Autumn/Winter is the perfect time to be able to wear it all the time.
Finally, my beautiful new coat from Navabi. The Double Breated Asymmetric Coat at £249 really is the highest of high end for Winter coats, but this coat will last years on end. You cannot fathom the quality or fit of this coat and wearing it feels absolutely incredible. Not only are you warm and protected from the cold, snow and rain, but it is also designed to create a tied in waistline. With a sleek look to the coat, you can assure that you’ll be fabulously warm and stylish for many winters to come. I added it with the previous Pink Clove maxi dress and love the contrast of colours.
So, what did you think to my mini photoshoot efforts in the woods? My lovely photographer-of-a-boyfriend Alfie kindly took this photos and I’m so happy with this entire post, I hope you all are too!
